Selling with Ease: Why I Walked Away from Traditional Launches (And What I Do Instead)

There’s something I need to say out loud, and if you’ve ever run a launch that left you drained, questioning yourself, or feeling like you were playing a role that didn’t quite fit… I think this will resonate deeply.

I used to follow the traditional launch formula.
You know the one, the 3-part video series, the mapped-out runway, the countdowns, the email sequences timed to the minute.

It worked.
But it didn’t feel right.
And eventually, I realized: if my business was built for freedom, why did launching feel like a performance?

The Launch That Changed Everything

When I ran my first “proper” launch back in 2017, I had everything in place: a detailed timeline, prepped emails, content scheduled, and the standard strategies that the online space swore by.

And for someone like me, someone who loves structure and planning, it seemed perfect.

But at my core, I’m an experimenter.
I’ve always been one. From working at a research institute to building businesses, experimentation is in my DNA.

So while the structure felt safe… it also started to feel stifling.

Each time I launched, I felt like I had to put on a version of myself that was “more persuasive,” “more polished,” “more on.”
It wasn’t me. It was a mask.
And the irony? I started my business for freedom, yet my launches were making me feel like I had to earn that freedom by playing a part.

What Shifted Everything for Me

It wasn’t a dramatic burnout or one big moment that caused the change.
It was a series of small realizations, quiet moments of awareness.

I began noticing what felt heavy and what felt light.
I paid attention to the kinds of conversations I loved, the clients I truly connected with, and what parts of launching felt draining versus energizing.

I tell my clients all the time: take notes during your launches.
Not just what worked in terms of metrics, but what felt good.
What gave you momentum? What felt like a “no” in your body?

Because here’s the truth:
The most powerful insights come not from copying formulas, but from listening to yourself.

And that’s exactly what I started doing.

Launching Differently: What I Do Now

My launches today? They don’t always look like launches from the outside.
And honestly… that’s the magic.

Some are soft, spacious, and happen over time through ongoing conversations.
Some include intimate masterclasses or 3-day pop-up experiences.
Some are quietly powerful, fueled by intention, not pressure.

I lean into systems that nurture my audience over time.
I share behind-the-scenes, real-time reflections, and stories that help people feel the heart behind my offers.
I write emails that feel like conversations. I create when I’m in alignment.
I stop when I need to pause.

This isn’t about “giving up” on structure; I still use strategy.
But I let it bend to my energy, not the other way around.

What Being a Launch Strategist Taught Me

Here’s something else I don’t talk about enough:
Working behind the scenes on dozens of client launches was a mirror.

I saw the pressure that so many of them carried.
I witnessed the stress, the self-doubt, and the way burnout would creep in when they were trying to force-fit someone else’s model onto their own rhythm.

And that changed how I show up as a strategist.

I don’t hand over rigid templates and timelines.
I ask questions.
What’s your capacity right now?
What would feel fun, not just doable?
How can we build a plan that supports your nervous system and still gets results?

Helping my clients launch in a way that works for them helped me give myself that same permission.

You’re Allowed to Do This Differently

If you’ve been feeling like you’re constantly pushing, performing, and pretending…
Here’s your permission slip to step off the launch hamster wheel.

You are allowed to:

  • Launch in a way that supports your nervous system.
Maybe that looks like a cozy 3-day event in a private space. Or skipping a public launch altogether and connecting through your email list or DMs.

  • Sell in a way that feels authentic.
Whether that’s casual Instagram stories, one heartfelt email, or a quiet invitation, there’s no one right way.

  • Build a business that fits YOU, not industry standards.
You can tweak the rules. Keep what works. Toss what doesn’t. Experiment and refine as you grow.

Because the strategies that bring the most success?
They’re the ones that align with your energy.

Final Thoughts: This Is About Ease, Flow, and Joy

You don’t need to sacrifice yourself to scale your business.
You don’t need to follow launch formulas that drain your soul just because they work for someone else.

You get to redefine what success looks like and how you get there.

And if you’re ready to create a launch or selling system that feels like you, not a copy-paste version of someone else…
